Although the show and swap was a huge success, there was a very bad incident that took place. My friend Eric Gore was showing his 1981 SE Floval Flyer 24" BMX cruiser and some scumbag stole the bike while everyone was watching the registration table for the raffle prize drawing. Eric bought the bike new in 1981 and raced it during the 80's.

This loser had been casing the bikes at the show all afternoon and I actually caught a glimpse of him tearing off into a neighborhood behind the shop on it. A few folks tried to take off after the guy, but he vanished into an apartment complex.

They called the police, they showed up and we gave them all of the details, but there's really not much that can be done. The bike shop is in a bit of a sketchy neighborhood in Garland. We'll just have to keep an eye out for it at all of the pawn shops, Craigslist, OfferUp and Facebook groups, etc. The good news is that probably a third of the vintage bike collectors in the area were there and were told about the incident when it happened.

I took this photo about 30 minutes before the bike was taken

I hope they catch the loser , I had my first Stingray stolen off my porch when I was a kid ...not a good feeling at all . Hope your buddy gets his bike back ...

Was a great day and good show, too bad some scumbag has to go and ruin it. I spent about 30 minutes talking with the owner of the stolen bike. what a really nice guy. I think I remember seeing the guy also, based on the description that was on Craigslist later that afternoon. truly hope the guy is caught and taken care of before police arrive. In the nicest possible way of course.
