Anybody know of a chrome shop you can send your parts to that wont charge you an arm and a leg to get small parts rechromed , I found a guy in buffalo ny but his pricing got way to high ,

"Cheap" and "chrome" are two words that don't go together too often. I use Proctors in Michigan. They are great. They are not cheap. Gary

The EPA has made decorative chrome incredibly expensive as a process and most platers have simply stopped offering. If you find someone willing to take your work, you might be stuck with whatever pricing they charge. If they're pricing is based on a lot charge, maybe you can find some other folks that need some plating of their own and can help you get your money's worth. We used to have stuff occasionally plated for cut away models and display pieces here at work. These days we have that sort of thing nickel plated instead of chromed. It isn't as reflective as chrome, but it still looks pretty good IMHO.

I think finding someone with a plating tank big enough for a frame would be as much of a problem as the price. Good idea though. Nickel is really nice. If you put chrome and nickel side by side, chrome has a slight "bluish" cast, and nickel has a slight "yellowish" cast. Nickel plated guns are pretty shiny. Gary

I haven't checked out their pricing yet, but I am looking at giving Atlantic Coast Plating in Athens, TN a call in the next few months to see about getting some small bike parts plated. Their number is 423.507.9014.

About 15 years ago I used Southern Bumper Exchange in College Park, GA to re-chrome some Porsche 914 bumpers and they did a phenomenal job. Their number is 404.761.5477.

Thanks guys I will call thechromeshop tomorrow and see what they have to say , will keep you posted on how it works out

Guy I work with bought a kit of ebay. He is waiting for it to get warmer outside before trying so I can not tell you how it works.

Im having some parts cromed right now... It's three different sets of springer forks and all the tiny pieces... The guy is charging me $300 for all... Said it will take maybe 3 to 4 weeks... Very nice guy to... Tom Griffin at Griffin Plating

The guy said there was a lot of pitting in some spots and he didn't want to risk damaging the pieces...
