So I need 1" threaded disk brake fork. Yup and I have found one at chain gang low rider however the have now said that they don't ship to the us and more. they have just what I need and they will not sell it to me. My springer is cool and the disk brake works fine but I am now commuting and am quickly finding out that a solid fork would be better. So now where do I find a 1" threaded disk brake fork.
 
My buddy Colin http://www.haulincolin.com/ has a jig and either uses prefab or makes disk brake tabs and puts them on all kinds of forks and frames. I'm starting a build with one so I will post a picture. He modified a standard fork by putting on the tab and a reinforcement.

I may have a newer style tabbed fork around so I will look for that in the morning too.

You mave have to piece one together, using the lowers from a disk fork and uppers from a fork with a threaded head tube.
Many early marzocchis (XC 140, etc) allow you to unbolt and replace steering tubes and fork legs. You could piece together parts from two different forks with such a crown from an early Marzocchi.
 
My unicorn is the "inners" of the rear drum brake on my 78' Schwinn Spitfire 5.

Don't know if I am looking for a Schwinn part (the drum shoes, mechanical workings and side plate) or a certain diameter drum brake from an unknown (at least to me) company, and not Schwinn. So I may be looking for a talking unicorn. :roll:

Good luck on getting your part. I know how it is to live in a place where you cannot get something shipped to you,being in California and not able to get a 49cc 2 stroke motor kit sent to me. Maybe if there is a forum member who you could trust that lives in a country that they WILL ship to, who you can use as a middle man per say. :idea:
 
how much would your buddy charge to make one? I just wish chain gang low rider would do business with the us.
 
Ok so I think I may be going about this wrong. I might be able to have a company in canada forward me the fork like say fedex? Has any one ever done this?

I just had him add it to a fork I already had. He doesn't charge much and does great work. Send him an email or give him a call. Colin builds and modifies bicycles full time in a metal working studio, this is his chosen trade and career.

I have the adapter now, but I don't like the way it pushes the wheel over to the right. I used a washer on the other side to offset it which helps. But i realy want the tabs on the fork so I can remove the wheel with out resetting the brake. I know I am being anal but that would be the purfect fit.

Like this one they woun't sell me.

Well I think I will go with your buddy. You say he has done this before and has a jig set up to do it? I talked to him and he said $75.00 no to bad tab included.
 
Being in Canada I know all about us suppliers and sellers even ebayers that wont ship to Canada at all! just cause they wont ship it to you doesnt make em a bad company I have to get things shipped to a town in the US just over the border and I have to go get it.

That being said why not buy or even make a disc adapter and weld it or take it somewhere to get it welded to an older fork?

Indeed.

That might be the easiest solution, assuming there's enough room between the blades to fit your rubber of choice. I've been thinking about trying this exact thing........
