Hello, I am just a mom that was cleaning out our garage. A neighbor offered me $35.00 for my son's old bike. My son said don't sell it it may be worth something. I have tried to search to find out about it and this is what I think it is. 1985 GT Pro performer Cromely.

But that doesn't mean anything to me if I am right. Any information would be great.

Yeah, 80's performers are very collectable. Tell the neighbor he needs to add a zero and start negotiating from there.
I havn't priced them (I'm more of a bmx race bike guy than a freestyle bike guy.) but I'm guessing it would bring at least a couple hundred in good shape.

edit* just saw the pic, are those Diacomp MX brakes? If so they will fetch $100+ all by themselves.

False alarm  but you made me look

Outside of 5 wannabes I have two Harrow Backtrails X-3's and a GT Bump. Looking at the garage ceiling was hanging a Dyno I turned into a snow bike with skis.

I sorry

I don't know the answers to the brakes or wheels but I will check tomorrow. It is too cold in the garage now. Is there anything else I should check?
There was a serial number on the inside dropout
5K1362 with a baseball symbol. After searching I assume it is Japanese 1985.

It has GT 4130 on the bottom of the handle bar thing.

The tires say Haro
Sprocket is SOVOS
The only name I can find on the brakes is Oryg
I forgot to mention that it is a Schwinn.
The pedals say Xerama.

What part is a Schwinn? The frame is definately a GT performer.
ORYG is the cable detangler system. The brakes may have a circle with "MX" on the top indicating that they are diacomp, if not they would have to be removed to see the manufacturers stamp on the back.
Look for markings on the rim and hub of the wheel to identify them.
If you want to give someone a sweet deal, sell it for $100, it's worth that minimum.
If you want top dollar, take the time to clean up the rust and identify the components (bars, stem, brakes and wheels) then list it on ebay or one of the bmx collector sites, but be warned, some of those sites get downright surly with folks coming in with their first few posts asking "what is it worth."
Good luck,
R.

Schwinn stem and SST Oryg detangler, neither are original to the bike or of any particularly great value.
Pics of any markings on the rims/hubs/brakes?
