Bar ends are useful. North roads/moustache bars/etc are useful, too, and you won't need to change controls, like you probably would with drop bars. In a pinch, I've gotten pretty creative as far as how I hold my cruiser bars. I have full foam on some Wald 828 bars, and i end up grabbin' those all over the place on most any ride over 10miles. In fact, i do it on short rides, too; force of habit, I guess....

But, ultimately, multiple hand positions are a must for long rides, or for folks with hand issues. I've been having pins'n'needles issues on longer rides lately, so i've been getting creative on ways to alleviate the problem....

Yes, different hand positions will also help you on long rides as B808 mentions. Try some ergo grips and barends. I still use shorty carbon barends on my Ibis Mojo MTB even though they are not "cool" per the Freeride or downhiller crowd, but when you ride for hours in the saddle, diff. hand positions will help you stay on the bike for longer, as will a high-quality saddle...

Getting old is no fun :D.

Sometimes I wonder if you work for Wald on the side ... your knowledge of the catalogue is staggering :39:.

I might have to start a thread on here, "Show Me Your Cruiser Bars With Bar Ends" ... Google doesn't turn up any results, and I just need to visualize how ridiculous this is going to be look before I attempt it :D.

In all seriousness, some of the pain I was feeling towards the end of that ride was alarming, so I'm more than willing to sacrifice a few style points for comfort in the long run.

I keep getting older, every day, no matter how many immature activities I participate in. I didn't know if the pins-n-needles thing was age-related, or something even more nefarious...

As for my status as a volunteer Wald rep, all I can say is that i love Wald's products. I love me some old and primitive bikes, and Wald makes parts that are not only compatible with old/primitive bikes, but are still being made in KY, the old/primitive way. They're cheap, they work, and they impress absolutely NOBODY, so i feel like they're basically ideal for my purposes.

I'm right on board with you on all of that, except, for some reason, I feel compelled to impress people. If only such a company existed to meet my unique needs :D.
