I messed up right here where the clamp hits the tube. I'll have to think of another way to place the clamp so it wont hit the tube.

Now just find a fairly soft grip, cut the end off and slit it open. Voila! A frame guard, no more sratched paint! Later & PEACE!!!!

oh man! THat's a great i dea. I never thought of using a grip. I was thinking of a rubber hose but i like your idea better. Thanks Slick!

a piece of pipe insulation would work too.

I just built one basically the same way, just some minor diffences. I used a regular set of vice grips, ground out the teeth and welded in pieces cut out of a seat post, then later I dipped them in Plastic dip for better grip and no scratching.

This is before the plastic dip, and to show you that NOBODY's cell phone takes a worse picture than mine:

I see what you mean with the clamp . . . instead of welding the clamp to the tube at the 12oclock position, move it 90 degrees on the tube and have it at the top of the main bar, not the side. Then the clamp will clear even if it is slid towards the bench, right?

Gotta keep my eyes open fer some pipe!!!!!

Yeah that's what I'm going to do. I can't believe I didn't notice that before i welded it together. Do you think i should leave that other piece that i used to position the clamp higher or should i just remove that?

That is exactly what I need, did you make 2?
