Diamond Chain still makes chains right here in Indianapolis, Indiana i had an old friend that retired from there back in the early 90's we had this discussion once and he said that they still made them and he would get me in contact with them. About 2 weeks after that he past away, so i kinda forgot about it till now, i think i might go over to the factory and find out. Its worth a shot

More than $10.00 a foot? Seems to me a lot of us are paying that and more.

Don't quote me, but I thought he may have said $50 a foot.

He had some catalog that he could order the stuff out of.

I'll ask him again and see if I heard him correctly.

Holy Smokin coaster brakes Bikeman! O.K. Upper Class White Trash put on your red, white, and blue blinders, run right on down waving your flag and P/U a couple of those! I'll bet the mom & pops store won't get any of your biz after that transaction!

there are still nos diamond 1" pitch chains around(expect to pay around $150 or more though)through your lbs...as far as diamond still making them and being able to pick them up at a diamond supplier....... i talked with our local bearing belt and chain last august......he called every dealer in california(none had any) then called the diamond plant itself to see if they even still made them.........guess what? they stopped about 2 years ago
is cool having a different drive than the pack? yes
is it worth having them repoped? doubt it
chinese made? blasphemy!
just find an even # rear cog and chain ring and remove every other tooth if you want a cheap skip link
i think im going to start running the old block chains now......

Even if it is a labor of love, I am going to follow up on this. I know the skip chains aren't any better than standard chains. It isn't a matter of practicality. If it was about practicality, I wouldn't own any apehangers. Or a half dozen bikes at any given time.

For the third time, sorry I mentioned Chinese manufacturing. I was incorrectly under the impression Diamond was producing their anyway. Didn't mean to give the impression I hated America. Now I must go burn my Chinese made Chuck Taylors.

sorry the chinese comment wasnt directed at you(nor was anything else for that matter......just putting in my usless $.01)
part of the reason i prefer the skips is because theyre hard to come by in usable condition so not everyone uses them.....
