This may or may not help...
First I find a design I like and study the patterns...
Then I start laying tape using a tape measure and my eyeball...
Most auto paint stores have pinstripe tape in different sizes...
For Red Rocket...
I started by making the end tabs...(the blue crescent moons)
I used foam insulation board...
Laid down several layers of tape...
Used an xacto knife to cut out the patterns...
Now all the ends were the same...
Placed the end tabs on the frame...
Then laid tape to connect the end tabs... (the thick green tape top and bottom)
Lastly I eyeballed the center tape using 1/8 inch tape…
It dose not have to be perfect…
You generally only see one side of the bike at a time…
And unless you point out to someone that it’s not perfect…
They will not notice…
For Jugernaut…
I just laid the tape down…
This was a pretty simple pattern…
Also a few tips…
Make sure the tape is firmly sealed down to stop bleed through…
When tape crosses another piece of tape there is a small hole…
I use a fingernail on the top piece to seal the hole…
I have also found that if you remove the tape before the paint is dry…
Say 15 to 20 minutes…
It will soften the edges of the paint…
But be careful the paint is still wet…
And lastly just a light coat of paint…
Oh... One other thing you can do with the foam board...
Lay down several pieces of tape to make a stencil...
