A pair of matching Columbias "Sports III". Right off C-list. Gentleman said they were his parents. Bought in '71. He said that was the ONLY year they came in purple (got me, I don't know). He said they were only used "one" year. He then said someone in Boston was going to buy them for a Gazzilion dollars. I told him he should take it, because the best I would do was $40 for the pair.....Two days later he called me back.........I now have two purple bikes.
I usually find bikes like this on Craigs list. NO picture, minimal description, HIGH expectations. There are 5 colleges in my area. I won't have any trouble moving these.

These are going to clean up nicely. I just wiped a spot with a wet rag.

That lights already off.

Nice colors, I have had very good luck selling matched sets like that for $250.-$300. for the pair. They are perfect for a husband and wife to cruise the cape cod canal with and be matching.

Glad you told me, Glenn....I was going to paint them PINK! But not if it's already been done......Started cleaning the men's' bike. These are going to look good (well as good as purple can look).

Great bikes, I love 3 speeds. havn't seen many purple ones. i've owned a putple bike like those but not a 3 speed

Also What do you find sells better? girls bikes or men's? where I am it's girls bikes for some reason, wich I like because I prefer mens ones! lol

I seem to sell more girls bikes........I live about 5 miles from Smith College and about 7 miles from Mount Holyoke College, NO men allowed at either one.

I checked the hub. It has a date of 69 on it, more then likely making these a '70. Maybe it was the only year for purple(?).....That was a great year for Mopars' "Plum Crazy".

Theres also a great upside to selling girls bikes too... lol and from where you seem to be your lucky I actualy have a hard time selling the mens ones. those two are in great shape for 1970 bikes. must of been well loved.
