Yeah those bars are what inspired me to build mine. I remember they were wrapped in a translucent yellow tape...that was about 1974...

Stole some time the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and got it stripped down.

Black Friday has been good to me. I avoided retailers like the plague, decided on parts, sanded and painted.

Gave it a couple of coats of "Lagoon" satin by Rustoleum. I think I'll try that "Effex" clearcoat that some of you guys are using.

My only dilemma: Can't decide between a chrome Schwinn-style springer like you see on so many Stingrays, or the original front fork with truss rods that I took off a '40s 24" Roadmaster.

Finally bought some Effex clear coat by Dupli-color. The picture doesn't do it justice. The 7 oz. can had more than enough for a bike frame. I laid down about two thin coats, then a couple coats of clear gloss. The results are great! You should see it in the Arizona sun. Gonna let it cure for a coupla days, then do final assembly.
