Nice color, can't wait to see the ghost flames, are you going to do traditional old school flames or realistic flames? Always wanted to do one of my car builds with ghost flames, my last project was a 69 Ford F100 Ranger I restored and had planned on ghost flaming it but before I could paint it someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse . . . still regret letting that one go.

well, I was feeling creative last night after thinking about flames for a while...the tape came in so I masked off some licks...I like the way they came out and it will give me an excuse to play with the air brush later.

I had considered not doing ghost flames and instead pin-striping them when they are done that it would force me to practice dragging lines with my pin stripe brushes...but man...time is a real commodity...I'll probably stick to plan A....I tend to go ape poo when I have free creative control on project and often need to reel myself in....My first thought is to keep it K.I.S.S.....

I've never really done anything like this before...I imagine if I had all the right equipment it would look much better but....I don't think it looks too bad. Not exactly what I had practiced on the scrap metal but it looks really great against the black. I may try to cover it with some "Night Shades" lense paint to darken it but I got to see what mini-me thinks. He is with mom this week. I may just touch up what needs touched up then cleat the poo out of it once it cures.

Had I gone lighter with the silver base and controlled where the paint went more then I would have achieved the ghost look I envisioned but...the more I look at this the more I like it....

Thanks for reading.

that looks cool bro,if you were going for a different look, doing a very narrow light blue pinstripe tape between the blue and black would make it pop(just an idea for future builds)great progress so far, keep it up

Good job, looks right.

I think it looks awesome for never doing it before! I'm sure I couldn't pull that off myself.

Well the ghost flames didn't turn out like I planned and now we decided to change the color scheme of the bike. I've ordered a blue sparkle seat and hand grips to tie in the blue flames. Here it is with its first coat of clear. Not bad for some rattle cans and a few hours or prep work. I'm real happy with the look now.

This working two jobs thing sucks nuts. I have very little time to work on the bike but we are plugging along slowly but surely. One more coat of clear should do it then we will start to put it back together. I may change the tires as well....there are blue walled BMX tires that I think might look cool on it....we'll see.

Looks good so far.

Looks great, outline the flames in silver pinstripe?

thanks for the compliments guys.

I added some silver pin stripe (tape) to them but it looked like crap.

I think when I get time this week I am going to grab a few colors and stripe it with my brushes...Not sure I want to use silver or a bright blue. I'll play with it on MS Paint to see what I like.....

well, it has been some time since I last updated. I had this week off from job A and job B so I've been catching up on projects around the house. Over the last 2 months I have tried various colors and styles of pin striping on the flames but I did not find anything I liked so I decided to go without.

We painted some parts today and assembled what we have. He will be getting some parts for Christmas and we will most likely install those parts same day. I did forget to order one part and it may not be here on time. I am bummed because it is a blue seat....It really needs that seat...the white just does not work anymore. Shimmed out a BMX stem and added a set of Odyssey pedals I had laying around. I ordered an Odyssey brake set for my bike but I decided I did not like it so we put it on here and it looks good. It needs some detail work and some touch up paint here and there....I can not wait for him to open his presents, he is gonna be stoked. We went to the bike shop this afternoon and they had a cool slick style tire but...I couldn't bring myself to part with 53 bucks for freaking 20" bike tire.
