Hi guys!

I had so much fun with the last BO i decided to enter the MBBO too:cool:

I've always wanted a bike with a bananaseat and a huge apehanger!
I picked up this bike a few weeks ago for a measly 15 bucks

Almost lost it to my girlfriend but i told her it wasnt her size:rolleyes:
I'll only be using the frame and the fenderstruts from this bike and maybe the rear tire.
Some guy i know gave me a kids bike and i told him i would sell it but i decided to use it as donor for my build.

I'll use the front wheel and the fork from this bike.
So it will have a 26 rear and a 24 front wheel and i'll try to bend the fork a bit more to give it a better stance( i hope it doesnt kink if i bend it :) )
Not to sure about the quality...:p
I have a set of ducktail fenders laying around that i'll use and the seat will be made of a old skateboard and a jacket from the thriftstore:cool:
As far as paint goes... I think it will be bare metal and ratted/rusted and i want to use as little chrome as i can (whaat no chrome!?!?! )
I cant believe i just said that but i did....

I havent thought of a name yet maybe rusted rumbler or something like that...

You should cover your nanner with something that looks like lizard skin now.

Thats a good idea! Thanx!
Very cool start, looking forward to seeing how you do it!

Luke.
Thanks!
Is the lizard going to be a hood ornament now? :D
That lizard isnt mine and i dont know how the picture got there but it needs to be incorporated somehow!

Started on my fork today, i needed to add some extra thread because the head tube is a lot shorter and i want to give it a bit more rake

Now its time to strip the bike for the frame that i'll be using but first my girlfriend needs some tlc (sounds dirty, i know... )
So im building a bike for her!:p
It will be a quick build/paintjob/tirechange just to keep her satisfied:rolleyes:

Theres still a few months to go right so i think i can squeeze this in hahaha

I've had my images go wrong too; tapatalk goofs up from time to time.
The other day I ended up with a picture of a firearm instead of my bike.

This should be interesting to see when done.

After a long search for a rear hub i decided to go with a Sachs 3 speed coasterbrakehub since i couldnt find a sturmey archer awc and the 3 speed nexus i had was equipped with rollerbrakes.
At first i wanted to go with rollerbrakes or drumbrakes but i like the cleaner look of a coasterhub. No cables no brake handles on the steer etc.

I found a nice old hub that is working good but looks a bit rusty n crusty.
And i think it will suit the rat look that i'm going with:cool:
And i believe i have a gripshift that will work with this hub that i can transform to a suicide shifter but i still have to try to see if this works..

Sorry no pics from the hub yet..:)

So here's a little update again.. it's been a while since i posted something and i have no good excuse for it[emoji4]

Started working on my rear wheel today, lacing the three speed sachs hub in.
This was the wheel that provided the rim.

An old 26 inch front wheel with aluminium rim.

I had some spokes laying around that i thought were the right lenght for a cross 4 pattern so without measuring i started....
When i had al the spokes in place you can probably guess what i found out... [emoji20]
Yep... 2 different spokes sizes...so i shoved my wheel into a corner and decided to mount my apes cause i needed something to cheer me up[emoji6]

Well at least that was working out for me[emoji16]

So back to the wheel... i decided maybe it was better to start measuring and after delacing it( if thats a word...) i found out i had 17 spokes lenght 270 mm and 18 spokes 275 and 1 spoke 263....
The lenght i needed is 270 so i guess i'll have to buy 19 spokes tommorow. ..
Now its time for a beer[emoji58]

And i still need to remove al the paint from my frame and fork but i hate removing paint and since its powdercoating i cant use paintstripper so thats gonna be a hell of a job....
Does anybody have any tips for removing chrome from my apes?

Frank
