Finally got to work on this again today for a little bit...
Used a piece of 3/4” square aluminum tubing to replace the shock and drop from the original mountain bike stance.

Used the original shock mounting bolts to fasten it into position between the front triangle and the rear swing arm.

No more rear suspension now.
Also noticed that the rear swing arm has developed a few light rust spots. Apparently it is not aluminum as I previously had thought, lol

I do have a plan in mind to deal with the non-aluminum issue that will also satisfy my “roadie-at-heart”.

Starting working on the fork today. Cut up the bent suspension fork I’ve been featuring in all the previous photos.

Welded the fork legs onto each end of a piece of 1”tubing.

Yes, leaving the aluminum bare. Thinking of just a satin clear coat over it.

Able to make some progress today.

Headset installed and it fits. [emoji106]

Bottom bracket all greased up and installed.

Crankset added.

Popped the seat on it as well.

Was given this sissy bar. It’s almost 8” wide. Not sure what kind of bike it is from. I need to narrow it down to 5.5” and don’t want to cut it so I’ll put some fancy bends into it I guess.

Was able to mount the sissy bar without having to bend it at all. A length of 1/4” threaded rod and some aluminum tubing to cover it tied the bar and seat together.

Mounted a stem and the ape hangers on it to get a sense of how it feels.

Cruising toward the end...
Need to route the brake cable and figure out the whole shifting thing. Also clean up some small aesthetic issues.
