Mead Rangers Made In Chicago ???

I have a Mead Ranger that shows that it was made in Chicago. Serial Number J2747 (0 or 9)? Does anybody have info on this Ranger? What years did Schwinn make Mead bikes. I saw this on another web site??? Is there a listing of Serial Numbers for Mead bicycles out there, or were they just made in different places like JC Higgins? I can post a photo if that would help. I am trying to place a year on this bike. Thanks in advance.

Mead sold bicycles from the 1890s till about 1953.I think they had the parts made and they assambled & shipped the bikes.Schwinn (I think) build most but not all.They are very collectable in Good to great condition---even a "fair" condition bike might be too valuable to Rat---I'd check before doing anything.Standard schwinn frames which ofter are the same frame go cheeper.
