Re: Messing around with CAD

Yeah, It may still have to slide forward a bit. I need to find/make a stool approximately the same height as the seat and figure out where the crank needs to be. Maybe I will measure the distance from the centerline of the crank to the center of the seat on the ratty racer. HHmmmm.

I have a tubing roller on order from harbor freight. The plan is to start building this over the winter. Recent changes include the tanks and the bottom bracket being moved forward 2".

looks great but i have to admit i liked the original idea/ drawing more than the current one. the og looked more classic and this one looks more like a chopper, but still very cool either way!!

Very nice. I really like the #1 image of three most out of all of your designs, simple, clean and elegant. Might i suggest that you consider aiming the head-tube at a point an inch in front of the tyre's contact point? Aiming it at the hub as you have is going to give you all kinds of front end handling issues, the front wheel is going to want to flop away from the centre line. You'll be using up most of your muscle power just trying to hold the bars straight. Also I think the BB shell could move quite a way forward up the 'down tube'.

MadMick,
Thanks for the input. I may have to use a different fork. The one in the images is a Monark that I digitized. Apparently they were not designed to be used at such a extreme angle. I have moved the BB twice already but, it may need to move again. Thanks again for all the good suggestions I'm getting. They will help make my first ground-up build ride like I know what I'm doing!

I second not using a Monark repo like that. Mine has busted....twice. The stationary fork legs levered themselves out of the crown. I could only see the crazy angle you've got, making it worse. On the plus side, it looks good.

A triple tree fork with leaf springer would look cool.

The bobber setup from Cycles US would look even cooler
