This was my first time using the oil-based Sharpie markers. I think I did okay with the patters I pinstriped, but I know my lines are all wibbly and amateur. Which is ok, because I'm an amateur, lol.

Thanks, Falstaff! I've been reading up on technique, and how to lay out and do a proper design. I see now how straight lines on a curved tube are hard.

Just a pointer. if you can get some eighth inch masking tape from hobby lobby or Joann fabrics, it's very useful for learning.
You can lay out simple patterns and follow the lines to figure out brush angle and how to rest your and and fingers to pull solid lines.
Pretty sure it would work well with sharpie too.

Actually, I wanted to put the shifter on a frame tube, but the bracket wouldn't reach around the larger tube and I didn't want to cut it up.

A fine pointed paint pen might cover your wobbles. Try placing your elbow and forarm on a stable surface and only move your wrist to stripe. Keep practicing ")
