Monark Rat

Count me in!!! I believe the last time I did one of these builds on here was about 2008 when I was living in Cincinnati Ohio. Living in Florida now & the weather is perfect to work on bikes all year. Not sure of the direction I'm going with this bike yet but starting off with this crusty 26" Monark from about 1953 or 1954. Bought if off ebay at a fair price because it was local pick up only.

I really like the crusty original paint but with new wheels, wide white walls. Kinda of like this rat rod.

I even like the side pipes coming out of the engine. Maybe I could do something like that from the tank

I think this raccoon tail will be perfect hanging out from under the rear fender.

Thanks, I've owned a lot of Monark from all originals to custom ones. This one should be a fun build.

This bike is super crusty! I still want that look but just not as much. Going to wet sand the bike

Gonna need a topcoat to preserve the patina. Linseed, or satin poly finish? I think gloss might be too much but maybe. Anyway, it's cool. I'd love to find one like it.

There's nothing better than perfectly manicured patina. I can't wait to see the finished product its going to be awesome!
