I recall that sometime back there ws a discussion about bad welds on these items. Is there any new info. about the problem being addressed..or should I still beware ?

I heard from the mechanic at my LBS that the new version of Crossbow Monark repros have improved welds from the manufacturer.
If so, I'll be getting a set.

I just got an Email from DAVE, at Crossbow..He says they are NOT doing any additional welding on their forks..BUT....some customers are. I think I'll get one and weld it myself..

I saw the info. about the Crossbow forks. Wanted to know for sure..so..nothing different is being done. I want one of these...Does anyone know for sure about the other retailers ?

I just got a springer fork from "FELT".($120.00 NEW) It's called " ABRAHAM LINKAGE CRUISER FORK" It's a 1-1/8" Looks like the Monarch with twin springs. Much better built. I'm in the process of mounting it on an old schwinn I found I the garbage. Got it to fit, thanks to Sic Nick, Local Cycles Long Beach NY.

I Emailed Electra and Nirve to see if they had the springer. Have not heard back yet..Felt website shows Out of Stock...jv

Yes, FELT is out of stock. What I did was click on "FIND DEALERS" on the Felt web site. I found a Local Bike shop that had one in stock. He said he had it in stock for a while. Check Felt dealers in your area, or out of your area......I'm sure they'll ship to you if they have one.

You say it's 1 1/8 ". What all was involved in making it fit ? I need one for a '48 Roadmaster frame ??

We put the fork on an old Schwinn 1" Frame. Sic Nick honed out the 1" to 1-1/8". It fit tighter than snot on a sleeve. Now that we have all the parts fitting it's off to powder coating.
