Looks good... going to try out tomorrow.

Thanks Gdcast!!.... Got a little more done today.

The new fork steer tube will work... Just need to cut a inch or so off... Only issue is
Fork legs are a inch or so longer..... Tire doesn't sit as close to top of fork like the other fork..

First fork nice and tight to the tire....

New fork bigger gap... Tried to tell myself it doesn't matter.

But now I'm thinking off grinding out the dropouts a little, see if I can get the tire closer to the top.

More good news bad news.
Good news.... Got another package today... Bad news box was empty

Just filled with scrap cardboard. :(

Email sent hope they can fix it fast!!!

Re: The 700 Club ~~ Monark Street Racer ~~

Awesome build! Just wanted to say that part of the reason some 700 style bikes are so fast is the narrow tires, some of that may be lost with the bigger ones you are running... That being said, the big ones sure do look cool! Specially with those truss bars on the front! 8)

Luke.

Cant wait to see how fast it is.... Hope it is fast.

Also even with these fat 700's this will be the skinniest tire bike I have

Did some more work today.... More backwards then forwards

I was so excited about the fork the other day, I didn't notice that the steer tube was not going to be long enough once I put the headset cups and headset on

I did steal this truss bar set up from another project. I like how it looks.

Just put a stem and bars on to see how it might look when done.

Got to find another fork, Order a 32 hole coaster hub, Order the Rear tire.
More to Come

I found a way around having the wrong size steer tube. I've had to deal with too long a tube usually, but if you can find another tube the same size, cut it and take an aluminum stem and run it through all the parts. run the welder on low. it wont stick to the aluminum and the stem will keep everything straight. It really works great.

Re: The 700 Club ~~ Monark Street Racer ~~

you could cut 1/2" off the bottom and top of the steer tube also ,refit the cups and bang!!! 1more inch for the headset

Re: The 700 Club ~~ Monark Street Racer ~~

Your build is going too fast, I keep missing things, slow down!
The espresso color on the crankset looks great 8)

The tire fills out the fork nicely width wise
I know the vertical gap would bug me too but the side angle of the rake is the cool factor IMHO
Jacked up pilot came out similar but I liked the look of the increased rake and the ride
The 700 tires look quite round compared to my Bontrager Hank (that had a lot of drag)

I use an adapter on my winter Al bike and put spacer rings on it and it works nicely
Those black spokes and bright green rims will look great

Good luck with getting the hub incident straightened out
Looking forward to seeing more...

Re: The 700 Club ~~ Monark Street Racer ~~
