A friend of mine told me about a Monark coming up in a local auction and ask me if I was going. Told him no, that funds were low and I was going to pass. 4 days later I stop by his house and was told "got something for you". He bought the thing anyways. I've noticed the longer I do this, the more people find out I do it, the more bikes that appear at my house

Anyways.....looks like a late 40's Monark to me. I seem to be the king of brush paint jobs and mismatched parts

Bicycles are like rabbits, they just keep breeding
As far as brush paint and mismatched parts, welcome to the club man
pretty cool lookin bike.

I hate being canadian. these bikes are never around here. we where more into bikes with skinny tires back then. it's not fair lol

The rims match.

I always hope there's a stash of cash when I open up an old tank.

Does that mean you don't want it? Beautiful bike in it's ratted glory. It looks nice as it is really, great score.

I bought a girls Monark Super Deluxe from Goodwill that someone had spray painted gold. I tried a trick I heard her on RRB about using PVC Cleaner to remove house paint. I haven't had a chance to try it on house paint yet but the spray paint came right off leaving the original finish including all the fancy pin stripeing. I have a couple house paint candidates I'm going to work on this winter. Might be worth a try. Sometimes the original paint underneath a repaint is in better condition than an original that's been exposed those additional years. Have fun.
