Mongoose Moto-Mag. early 80's?

My buddy had this given to him and we are planning a joint build. My question is what year do you all think it is? I havent gotten the bike yet so I dont know the serial. The only image I could find with this dropout style said it was an '81. Ive already got some yellow Skyway Tuff II's with aluminum center and some aggressor tires ready to go for when it gets to my house.

I don't know a lot about these. I believe this type frame was made from the mid '70's until 1984. I know on the later ones the first letter is the month followed by the last digit of the year. So H1XXXX would by august of 1981. I think the early ones were dated differently. When you get the bike check the serial with this website.

That frame was made from '81 to '83. Serial # will pinpoint it.
