The final pieces arrived today (or were created ) and now the Hawthorne is done. I like the classic hot rod style a lot, and I think it really influenced this build. (Does anyone know the year of this bike for certain? I checked for a serial number but could't see one... I'm thinking I need to scrape the bearing chamber/ bottom bracket). I am really satisfied with this bike, it rides nice and I like the way it looks. The front fender is a factory fender, the rear is a chopped Schwinn(?) chrome ballooner fender. Everything on this bike that comes to mind is at least thirty years old :D... The exceptions being the tires, the brake cable ends, and the handlebar stem bolt wedge. The rear caliper/rim brake is there for looks really, but is fully operational. I have a coaster brake as well. The paint is original with old brush touchups. Most of the parts for this build came from site members, only several came from eBay. Thanks to everyone who sold me parts, and thanks to the site admin for maintaining one awesome site! Here's my first official rat.

I like it! All your parts choices and mods appear to be "period correct".

Mag Sprokets are my fav and your Hot Rod themed bike wouldnt be complete without it.

Thank you very much! I was hoping the mods would come across as period correct, and I too really dig the mag sprocket. It is way sportier than the Murray made sprocket. Plus I got a great deal from Dumpster Diver and the chrome is near perfect underneath the realtively light rust.
