I just got an old bike with a Solex 49cc 2 stroke motor. Im gonna get picts up in the next few days, but does anyone out there know where the crankcase oil fill and drain ports are? The motor is a 66' and although it has sat for over two decades (at least 2 if not 3) it runs really well and is mounted over the front wheel useing a roller to drive the front wheel (a front wheel drive bike... how cool is that?). But before I put any more miles on the motor I wanna change the oil, and even though it is a 2 stroke, it does have oil in its crankcase, right? Thanks in advance.

Probably not. 2 cycle engines with separate lube are pretty uncommon, and oil drain/fill points would probably be obvious.

There is no oil filled crankcase. You mix the oil with the gas. The transmission is a roller drive so it requires no oil either. If its been sitting for a while you should probably replace the rubber fuel pump membrane for best results, or at least keep it on hand for when it needs it.

Thanks guys! I haven't dealt with 2 stroke 49cc engines before and I do mix my oil with the fuel, actually useing a high quality 2 stroke oil. I had figured that since it is over 40 years old and a bit bigger than a weedeater motor than it would have crankcase oil. Thanks for the help and I will have picts up in the next few days.
