So with those original springers - I've seen quite a few builds on this site with them mounted backwards and I actually thought they must have been a different version or non-schwinn springer. I like the look and I have this type of springer waiting to use on a build - are there any drawbacks of the backwards install?
I've used an image from us56456712's Build thread 1953 Schwinn Black Panther.
cman comments: "It looks like the springer pivot is orientated the wrong direction. The pivot should be behind the steer tube instead of in front. It does give it a tough stance and a cushy ride as it is."
So is there extra springiness? ...and could it be offset somehow?
