I just traded RATINA for this bike last Friday. First pic is what it looked like then. It's not as cool a klunker as the others I've seen here and it's not going to get much cooler than it is. When the weather warms up it will get some new paint. MTB tires, wheels, seat, bars and stem cost a grand total of $5.00.

Close relative to Baron Von Beer Run's current winter commuter incarnation.

Nice bike, blacksheep. You know, they make blue tires? Unless you think that would be too much blue.

sweet bike!! looks exactly like my murray westport cruiser, just minus the fenders and later the chainguard (which gave it away for a westport). good to see so many of these old murrays still out there, with two of my own. :D

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm really glad it worked out for me to trade for this bike. I'd been wanting to do a klunker-style bike and this one seemed like a perfect candidate. I'll be repainting it when warmer weather arrives. I'm planning on a limey green with black wheels. Maybe a second color and design laid down on the front half of the frame, too.

Heres the bike back in its original state early 2001, I can't believe I still have these pics

BTW...the rims on that bike are chrome underneath, I think the chrome was pretty decent too

The whitewalls on the blue wheels looked really cool! The black and white seat was a nice touch, too. More pics to save.

Yeah I took them off for another bike I'm building. The seat looks good but was so uncomfortable I never rode the bike
