Murray Long Tank, badged as a Hiawatha

What can you guys tell me about this year, any history behind why it's badged as a Hiawatha.

The only thing I can tell you about this bike...
It belongs in my garage.

I believe it is a '40/'41 as the frame previous to this didn't have a curved seatpost and had a straigt downtube, and the postwar had a straight seatpost and a curved downtube. Your serial number is confusing in that I believe the M is an upside down W...as WG was code for a Gambles Hiawatha

Hiawatha's were rebadged CWCs and Shelbys for the most part, also Huffmans and Murrays. Hiawatha was the Gambles Hardware store brand.

I couldn't find a Gambles ad, but this is a '41 Elgin...
