Just got an old Western Flyer. Still trying to pinpoint when it was made and what model it is. Someone mentioned that it is probably Cleveland Welding and made around '46 or '47. Anyone can verify and confirm this? I have serial # pix below.

The next question is how to clean the chain. Should i just soak it in the gasoline and oil it later. What is better between repainting it and keeping it as it is?

Any suggestion and comment will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Super Sweet :D I just picked up a mid sixties w. Flyer last week for my first rat job. Mine's a bit more simple though.
Enjoy her, wherever you go with her...

I got one yesterday, my kid has been eyeballing my bikes, so I got a 24 inch western flyer for her cause daddies toys
are just that daddies toys, got it from local bike shop a mech parts restored has a nice patina

Finally (almost) done

Oh, 37fleetwood said that this bike should be "1938 Huffman made Western Flyer"

About the progress, my apology to those who like patina look. I was debating between keeping it patina look or powder coating it, I guess the powder coating idea won :). It just had to many bad spots, so I went with powder coating and sandblasting many peices. Updated pictures are below...

Still need couple of things, but for now it rides nicely. It sucks around here b/c I live in the hilly area :).

More (better) pictures will come once I get it out for photo shoot.
