If i felt tame I'd enter the buildoff. I never feel tame though so I just go all out. I don't need trophies or bragging rights and that's the difference. Does this qualify?

This one has shorter handlebars now so don't cry. I'll post new pics soon. But it rides great with the smaller front sprocket up front.

While I have been here there are several guys that build bikes way beyond anything
I can do. Would I want to be in a competition with them...NO! I always felt the buildoff
was to give everybody the same chance to come up with a bike from stock/non stock
parts. I really think all the bikes were built for midgets...well kids and they are a tad small.
The bad part is when given the option of an anything goes buildoff most chose not. Then some
decide to hack stock frames. I think I could whip up a frame that would be hard to compete against
with a stock frame....would it be fair? NO!. So why would I. If I want to build it then I would.
Just wouldn't enter in this contest. Of course this is just my opinion.

I have always voted for an anything goes build off.I have never entered any of the build offs thus far because of the "no chopping frames" rule and I finally decided to go for it,that being said.I have only added one frame bar to my frame.Nothing has been cut off of the frame nor has the stock frame been altered to change it's geometry.I actually am enjoying the restrictions,I think it will prove to help the effect I'm going for with my bike.I believe I am totally within the rules based on bikes I have seen entered in the previous 6 build offs.If I am disqualified-so be it.I'm having FUN!

Well I guess your all pretty much safe. I haven't been given any orders to look
at the entries and if they violate the rules, move them to the build section.
The judging will go on as planned. Have fun its all that it's about anyway.

NO welding? I've read the rules at least 6 times and don't see that... I do think there has been some rule stretching, some so bad It will affect my votes.

As far as rules limiting your creativity, well, I see tons of new ideas come out of these builds (well, new for me, some of you guys who have been here a while may have seen it all). I also see a lot of the same ideas rehashed on home-built frames. There's room for creativity and redundancy in either.

I like building frames from scratch (only done one so far), I like building stock frames, I like modifying stock frames, I like bikes...

Good luck to all, Rg

3. Must use factory frame....no altering of original frame structure/geometry
(grinding off fender tabs and cutting seat tube height is okay, just no major frame design changes)
7. Use any parts you like....mo rat = mo bettah!
8. Parts can be attached any way you wish (includes welding). :|

Totally forgot about the shoe shots!! :p

There will always be someone who wants to "bend" the rules a little.

That's hot rodding. Meh.
new guys and their bunnies.... they got nothing on vans!

I like to use vintage frames for my builds and I wouldn't cut up a vintage frame, so it is a non issue to me. It has nothing to do with the rules one way or the other. Other people can do whatever they want, it just isn't my thing.

As far as the competition, I am in it to build a cool bike, to check out what everyone else is doing and to have fun. Winning or even getting a vote would be icing on the cake.

I'll factor the rules into my voting, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't vote for a bike with frame mods. For me, it comes down to overall style and rideability.
