Great! Just loved the pictures. You are lucky to live in an area like that!

Re: My Rides in and around Boise. Silver Creek ride 7-1-13

The family and I took a mini vacation this past week. First to a family reunion then up to North Idaho for a day of biking the Hiawatha and a trip to Silverwood Theme Park. This was my 4th time riding the Hiawatha and the family's 3rd time.

We always start out with the start of the trail shot.... that tunnel is 1.6 miles long.

Part of the trail is shared with vehicles, so caution is needed in 1 tunnel

The tunnel entrances (8 of them) all are varied

The 7 trestles are cool too.

Spitting off the trestle seems to happen every time.

It's hard to believe places like that exist when you live in Texas.

Looks like an awesome trip....glad to see that the weather looked good too!

Thanks for the comments. There are people in Boise who think Idaho looks like Texas too.

Tour de Fat was held last weekend. I volunteered quit a bit, so I didn't manage to get too many pictures. I volunteered for Ride Marshal, Valet, Waterstation and Teardown(Carnie). I left my house by bike at 9:30am and got home at 8pm. It was a fun day of riding and peoplewatching. The parade was much larger than last year's 6000 riders. The grand total raised also was about 20% higher at $55,000 for 3 local bike organizations(BBP, SWIMBA, TVCA).

Boise is one of the top 3 or 4 destinations for TdF especially for costumes.
“This is the celebration of two of mans greatest inventions –the bicycle and of course, beer,” event coordinator Michael Craft said.
And what’s a celebration without costumes? The Tour de Fat visits cities across the country but New Belgium representatives say Boise bikers outdo them all.
“Boise takes it to the extreme more than anybody else for some reason,” Craft said. “We like to think that if everybody’s a freak, nobody’s a freak.”

I was Samurai Futabo from SNL. The theme was SNL.

The Boise Greenbelt along the river is a very nice place to ride. I lived right on it for 9 months while working a contract in Boise.

Yep. I ride it a few times a week going to and from. I work 1 block away from it.

Are the fires effecting you in Boise? Gary
Not too bad. We have had some very smokey days with visability of less than 2 miles. They are close to Boise but kinda downwind.

Re: My Rides in and around Boise. Tour de Fat 8-17-13

You know it is just rude to brag about Tour De Fat rides where people do not get them this year. JK glad you had a great time.

Re: My Rides in and around Boise. Tour de Fat 8-17-13

Still riding every day but I have had no big adventures by bike. Here are a few pics take in the last few weeks along the Boise River Greenbelt.

The bike looks small for some reason.

Footbridge near my office

Old Rail Bridge that now is a Bike and pederstrian bridge.

Thanks, Fall is always nice in the City of Trees.

Here are some more. My son and I rode down to the hardware store via the Boise River Greenbelt.

The river is down so the Whitewater Park is showing the adjustable gates.

Re: My Rides in and around Boise. Fall on the Greenbelt.

I have been taking care of my Dad's dog this past week. My wife does not trust her in the back yard, so I have been hauling her to work. I strapped a milk crate on the Xtracycle.

Saturday, we rode downtown to the Veteran's Day Parade. It was pretty cool especially all the different organizations involved supporting the vets. This is a first time that I have seen a tank rolling down a city street. Afterwards we walked through the Saturday market and picked some items up for dinner.

On the way home, we stopped off at the new bike art installation. Each bike makes music as you pedal and changes tune or rhythm when the handle bars are turned.
The three stationary bicycles — a cruiser, a delivery bike and a kid’s chopper — will drive real musical instruments when people pedal them.
The drum, organ pipe and bass will be placed inside painted steel columns attached to the bikes. They’ll respond to the way people ride the bikes, cranking out different notes and rhythms then they’rd pedaled and changing octaves or beats when the rider moves the handlebars or applies the brakes.
