You're right, it would, but those old ancient bikes had way different frame geometry and details. All you can do is try to replicate the style, unless you actually find a real one.

The cottered cranks DO make it look 50 years older than it really is!

Real nice bike, but the frame is huge. Very old bikes from 1890s to 1910 had huge frames. They thought that was the way to go. Because the frame is way too big for me I would have had to make it into a single speed skip tooth (you can get skip tooth 3 arm crank chainrings) with Soma bars (or some other similar bars). That way it would have been a faux old-timer. I have a real one and a fake one but the fake one has a small frame. Post final pictures.
