I got this frame for free a while back, I cant seen to find any other lugged treks with backwards dropouts. Do I have something factory or just a really good modification? What's it worth? the serial number seems to be m5c9459
AFAIK, Trek didn't make any production track bikes BITD. I'd guess your frame is from the early/mid 80s. They did offer custom and semi-custom frames, and this might be an example of that. Or, some previous owner could have drewed the cable bosses and added track ends (or paid someone else to do this for him.) If this is a modified frame, it looks to be a competent job. Enough so that it could be factory-original.
I found this photo of a factory custom Trek track bike:
The track ends on this frame look different from yours, but then again, so do other details (eg, the seat cluster) so that doesn't really give us any solid clues.
conform the following site, it is a Trek model 412 or 414 (M), 25 1/2" frame (5), made in March (C), probably 1980 or 1981 (not sure).
no idea about the value, try bikeforums.net
