Anyone ever hear of hubs with the name of Swift or Penak? I got a 24 inch wheel with what could be a 3 speed hub but I'm not familiar with the brand.
Thanks folks
Try searching for "Renak" hubs. The Renak Swift, i believe, is a singlespeed coaster hub. I guess there may have been a 3 speed version? Do you have a driveside pic of your hub?
Probably the "R"-'s little front leg got rubbed off over the years, or maybe was never intact from the time it was stamped? I have a Velosteel hub that says "Male in the Czech Republic" on the reaction arm...
Exactly like the Romet hub from the Tyler bicycle I had. Design & all including how the brake arm is put in. As well as the sprocket.
I used to have a link for the hub taken apart but I just looked again and the site is no longer I guess. I even tried the Internet Archives for the link and nothing showing.
Another poster here had a bike with the same hub as the Tyler I had but a photo which I didn't have of and you can see the design of the brake are looks like yours without Swift on it.

Bicycle808 is correct. It's a Renak hub. Essentially a "Perry" hub. they had different names that were stamped on the hub shells and coaster arms. Yours looks like it was made in 61'

Yeah, thanks for the driveside pic-- as others have said, the mystery is solved: Renak singlespeed coaster, and it's a F&S clone, much like the Perry, earlier Sturmey-Archer SS coasters, Velosteel, Favorit, etc.... these hubs coast awesome--very little drag, but brake power is underwhelming, IMO.
According to this page I found, it'a left handed threaded lock ring that holds on the sprocket. Check out the photos, this might be identical to yours.
yeah, i agree with Wildcat above; looking at your driveside pic, it looks like a regular lefthand thread lockring; get yer hook spanner and yank'r off.
