Was bored and thought up and built a crazy wheel set. 26” mounted on a 20” mounted on a 14” wheel. Completely rideable too!

Must have been a nightmare to true.
Each wheel was basically 3 wheel builds. The challenge with having same width rims is you can’t really true it (spoke holes line up laterally). Rounding it was the same and each hoop is rounded near perfectly. But truing just had to fall in line for the outermost hoop.

It took me the better part of 3 days to build these and that was with dead-on measurements. To put it in perspective, I can measure, cut, thread, lace, true, and round a wheel in 1 hour. So shoulda taken 6 hrs 😂

As you saw in the video, they’re rideable with no more wobble than a perfectly trued wheel with a fat tire mounted.

the math on that one might make my head explode! Not sure where to start. Maybe it is all just trial and error.
It was interesting for sure. The ERD of one build became the PCD of the next build. Equal width hoops have a zero F-C and spoke calculators didn’t like that (a zero width hub), so I just used 1mm.

Double end threaded spokes were wild to cut and thread. I trusted the math and calcs and they worked out. I did have to hold some spokes to tighten them early on otherwise they’d just spin and there wasn’t any room to squeeze in my spoke holder (Park Tool CSH-1).

I’m an engineer, so it was all in my wheelhouse thankfully.
