Looks like this Columbia twin bar may be where they got some styling cues.

He's going to put it in storage so that he can sell it on ebay in 10 years for $150.

This just in: the other new-production Ballard-Pacific-WalMart "Columbia", a 700c Streamliner:

Awesome. They really nailed the whole "Streamliner" concept there. Hope they get a C&D from whoever owns the Schwinn name, now. For ppl who care, this is a 1954 Schwinn Streamliner: http://schwinncruisers.com/catalogs/1954.html#streamliner
There are current model Schwinn Streamliners sold today. https://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1155358_-1_400322__400322

I wonder if Ballard-Pacific and the current owners of Columbiua consulted with vintage Columbia enthusiasts on this one? :21:

also looks more than a little like the Rollfast V200
I agree with 5 speed and Walker, it looks like they mixed a Blackhawk and a V200 Rollfast but didnt bother with authenticity.
Gonna tick some people off with this next comment...

It's like remaking Star Trek or Twilight Zone. Why?! If you cant improve on something, dont. All it does it take away from the original. (IMO)
Sorry, I had to say that.

Ok, I went and took a second look. I guess if I didnt have a lot of money (hey, I actually dont) and wanted a stylish bicycle, this would be a cheap alternative! It's probably the most style you'd get for 150! The EA button on a Blackhawk tank goes for nearly twice the amount and is the size of a dime! I guess when you put things in perspective it's not that bad of a buy afterall. :)

I look at the big picture. There are these entry level bikes available in practically every town. And, they recall the classic styling of the vintage iron we all love! Most don't remember what was in the stores in the 80s and 90s. Maybe one Huffy or Murray cruiser, among all the cheap junky mountain bikes. And they were bare bones. I can't imagine I'd think classic bike styling would come back in such a big way! Yes, these new ones are cheaply made, like anything else sold at wally mart! I was impressed when the Point Beach came out with a rear rack, and fenders. If anything, at least these will attract new faces to the hobby. -Adam
