looks great.....is there going to be a springer up front?

Re: New build.

is that a one peice crank? that is sweet and wow neat fork let us know how it steers. and wow that sucker is low use that van tire in the back as reference

Re: New build.

I will be at my workshop tomorow and try to get some pictures up before the end of the weekend. The seat mount has alot more to it now that i will get some detailed photos of.Yes thats a one peice crank, the sproket is not afixed to it though.Yes the fork is a springer fork now(thanks to alot of beer drinkin' and head scratchin').I plan to post a lenghty breakdown of what was done to it once I have some more photos. Thanks

Re: New build.

Man, that seatpost is so radical looking. Gee, I would hate to have to stop suddenly when sitting on that saddle. I DO like the lines of that bike...very sleek and so retro. Great job -- and it isn't even finished!

Re: New build.

that post is sick! bike looks pretty cool.
now get some brews and get back in the garage!

regarding the safety of yer manhood in relation to the proximity of the post i seriously think that shoulnt be an issue.
a hand brake wont stop the bike fast enough to toss you forward. and if you use a coaster brake(looks like you are) even if you lock up the brake i dought you'll fly that far forward.
than again...if your'e riding along and take your eyes off the road to look at the pretty girl in the bikini sunbathing in her front yard and hit a mailbox, fire hydrant, street sign, or parked car than you might wish you had the codpiece.

Re: New build.

Yepper beatcad....I was thinking the latter when you take your eyes off the road, ha!

Re: New build.

Hey guys the build is still not close to done but shes getting there.I was only able to grab a few pictures before my bateries went dead.As far as the seat mount its really not in the way at all and you just have to be carefull,Nothing cool should be entirely safe in my opinoin.I made the frame about 3 years ago for someone and they never picked it up-so it was time to build it(I will get stock frame refrence pics soon). The seat mount is made from cutting up a kids mongoose handle bars and shortening them. Then cut and ground down a stem for the seat tube, choped the rear seat stays of a ladies cruiser frame, welded them for the seat bar to rest in(plus it can all come apart easy).made a rear flip-flop hub so I could use the vintage disc brake I scored off Ebay some years ago.Laced the wheels up and put pre-war vintage set of Goodyear Studded tread tires. The bars were some cruiser bars from a 24" ladies bike.Flipped em upside down, knureld some steel pipe and welded the ends on,then wraped the rest in hockey tape. The fork, brake and chainguard are not quite done yet so I will break theat stuff down when its done & I have more pictures.Enjoy, more updates as they happen.

Re: New build.

wow i like the seat post idea, and that fender made out of license platres! how'd you do the one?

Re: New build.

Fender was fairly easy.Just cut em in half, grabbed an old barstool top and took my time.Just used a few diff. ball pein hammers, gloves and some sweat.Cut some smaller strips and riveted them together.

Re: New build.

You could also probably use a pipe or a piece of round wood in the same circumference as you'd want your fender to be and bend the license plates around it. You could even screw them into the pipe or the wood for better control.

Just a thought...

Re: New build.

ALRIGHT! Finaly done!...for now.I had an unexpected moving of my shop to a much bigger and better location,so the bike got put on hold.Just finished the fork(minus some minor touch ups)and the vintage jockey disc brake,It handles great.Just sitting on it you feel like your hualin'.I used two 700 lb. shocks so it doest give you much movement except when you go over a bump, wich is what I wanted.Got a few photos for ya's more to come, for now I got get back to the other projects.
