So I've put the chopper on hold until inspiration hits afresh. Spotted some white tyres in an LBS (rare in NZ) and decided to build a cruiser around them. Whipped up this frame over the weekend using a heap of design cues from My Girl's bike (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=11959):

I really need something to ride so I promise not to slack around on this one!

Really nice design . I'm curious as to what your going to use as a seat post with that large of a tube?

Re: New custom cruiser "Ya Daddy!"

pink? no, its SALMON.

Re: New custom cruiser "Ya Daddy!"

Have completed welding and in the process of cleaning it up ready for powdercoating. Chosen a nice Brooks saddle and a set of bars. You might notice a slight difference between this photo and the last lot - I wasn't happy with the difference in angles between the head tube and seat tube. In fact it wound me up so much that I cut the head tube off again and raked the forks out to a closer match with the seat tube. Not perfect but rough enough...

Uncle Stretch - there's a normal size donor seat tube inside the big tubing with a sleeve tube in between, welded round the top and a couple plug welds a few inches down. Same as on my Girlfriend's bike (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=11959#p123155) Seems to work and look ok.

Rudolf - Am thinking brown, maybe with some white and goldy/bronze graphics or lines. I reckon this'll work nicely with the white tyres.

i love the entire look of this bike and your gf's bike too! youve got some serious talent man! id like to see your bike mocked up as a board tracker though. lower the stem and flip them bars! this will definately be a sick looking bike when its finished!

Easy E: Your boardtracker comment led me to some thinking which ended up as truss rods on the fork. I think it works. A few other updates too, incl grips spun out of macrocarpa. Almost ready for powdercoat now.

Anyway, pictures:
