I acquired one of these, and wonder how rare are they? Also, anyone have a great information source on them? Mine doesn't have the cable or connector on it, and I'm trying to determine if its worth hunting the part down.

Thanks!

They're desirable hubs for sure. Good prewar stuff. Thus, the parts you're missing are pricey. There's a frame-mounted ball-end shifter, a pulley knuckle and the cable that you're missing. Probably 100$+ for everything from somebody who knows what the stuff is. There's also a toggle knuckle that threads onto the end of the axle which you hopefully have as that'll be pricey too.

No toggle knuckle.. there's just a spring sticking out of the end of the axle. Sounds like I'll probably end up selling it for parts.

If you have the type with the spring/plunger sticking out, you can make it work cheaper. THe Shimano 3 speed knuckle should fit yours. Then you can modify a shimano cable and make a shifter. It will take some work, but worth it!
