New Depature Model D (skip tooth) axle nut size?

I got some wheels a while ago and have rebuild the hub, but they didn't come with the axle nut. I got the front ones figured out, but can't seem to get the right size rear. I took off the small brake arm nut and took it to ace. It only fit on a 3/8 fine pitch bolt, but then when I bought some 3/8 24tpi nuts and tried it on the wheel, they still won't thread on. Are they metric? I couldn't get m10 (1.00-1.5 pitch) to fit?

I can give yo the email address of a guy that specializes in ND. He has had everything to rebuild my cycle trucks hubs..

I got the parts i needed (just bought a whole hub for a good price). Now I have spare guts too =)
