In the mid 60's my Grandmother had a 61' Rambler American, my Uncle had a 64' Rambler wagon, and my folks had a 59' Rambler wagon (3 tone paint job! - light and dark pink and grey on the tail fins.) They were all nice "sensible" , "economy" cars with 6 cyl and 3 speeds.

Then my Aunt bought a 65' Rambler Ambassador at a model year-end
clearance sale, it had been the Dealers "demonstrator" and had every option on it - I think it was a 343 4 bbl

- what a beautiful car! I can still remember my first ride in it - It was getting dark out and that fantastic chrome instrument panel glowed like a Wurlitzer jukebox! With our snow and salt here those cars rotted away real quick but for a few years there we all drove "Kenosha Cadillacs"
