New Whip: '65 Rambler Fastback

Pictures say it all. It's a '65 Rambler Marlin, has the original 287 with 3-speed auto.

And what car thread would be complete without video of it running?

Like, like, like!!! I had a turquoise 65 Marlin back in 1976 with a 327 and a Flash O Magic floor shifter and bucket seats. It was awesome. Thanks for the video and memories!

AMC & Ramblers are in my blood. I've never owned a Marlin but I've owned and driven AMC's and Rambler's since the 70's. Right now I only have two AMC's, a 70 AMX and a 71 SC/360 Hornet..

Great Marlin!! Those were some neat and unique cars, for sure! I have a 1962 Rambler Classic Custom that I built gasser style. 1962 was AMC's first year for a 2 door Rambler Classic. Love your car!

Sure brother, this is an old picture. We are getting ready to repaint it (I think it needs some flake and some scallops) and it is getting a nastier engine. I will apologize ahead of the question, no it isn't AMC powered. Going from a Chevy 327 to a 383 roller motor.

In the mid 60's my Grandmother had a 61' Rambler American, my Uncle had a 64' Rambler wagon, and my folks had a 59' Rambler wagon (3 tone paint job! - light and dark pink and grey on the tail fins.) They were all nice "sensible" , "economy" cars with 6 cyl and 3 speeds.
Then my Aunt bought a 65' Rambler Ambassador at a model year-end clearance sale, it had been the Dealers "demonstrator" and had every option on it - I think it was a 343 4 bbl - what a beautiful car! I can still remember my first ride in it - It was getting dark out and that fantastic chrome instrument panel glowed like a Wurlitzer jukebox! With our snow and salt here those cars rotted away real quick but for a few years there we all drove "Kenosha Cadillacs"

Horsefarmer, if it was a '65 it probably had a first-gen 327 in it, they didn't make the 343 until '66 I think. Both awesome engines. I want to get a 327 to swap into it eventually.

very cool! I always love the Marlins. My gramps had Nash-Rambler dealership in Kansas for a few decades and my pops restores Nash-Healeys. He still has these two. this pic is in front of his house where I grew up, he's building one up to race on the vintage circut right now.
