Greetings. I make bicycle frames for a living and it's pretty typical that folks drop off unwanted bikes or parts. I usually don't accept them. I know you guys like pretty much anything and and somehow you make it much more interesting than it ever was to begin with.
Last week a guy dropped off a 1951 Schwinn Panther. I first wanted to restore it but two things got me thinking. The first is the bike (complete less wheels and fenders) is really badly rusted and the other is that due to whoever originally built or serviced it early on, did a really good job greasing everything and with the exception of the pedals still worked fine.
I am not yet sure where this is going but I will get a few pics and post them as soon as this takes a direction..
