ok I have come up with an idea for my otherwise cheap and useless Schwinn del mar I bought for 65 bucks at wal mart (slightly scratched and deeply discounted )
after pondering over how I am going to make it all mine I have come up with a theme for it's satin black finish and the look of it.
being in the Midwest I have heard stories about moonshiners and the prohibition days and figured this would be a cool theme for a build.
also I have been into the moonshine bandits get loose lately (nothing cooler then rappin rednecks lol)
so with all that being said and done here is my plan
black out all the chrome and remove the reflectors.
swap the bars with apes.
add a layback seat post and possibly a leather seat.
and more to come as I think of it but that's where I am going so far with it. I am also gonna get a ammo box for the " moonshine compartment" which will be disguised as an ammo box to keep the whole moonshine smuggling feel.
so now I gotta convince my girl to let me take It all apart and begin buying the parts I need to do this build
more updates soon.

here is my beginning stage. obviously it needs some help be it it does look kinda cool for a wal mart junkpile.

very little progress as I decided to take a ride around town and take some pics.
basically front fender delete and changed the bars

I do not like the straight bars so im gonna put the originals back on but keep the adjustable stem on it.
more pics as you can see I got bored and I have lots of free time lol.

very little progress on this one since I decided to put it on the back burner
I did put the front fender back on and the original bars but I kept the adjustable stem on
it is about 2 inches taller then the stock stem which is perfect for me
other then some bandanas and a wash this build ahs not progressed
more updates soon

well as always my vision has changed for this one
I decided to go with a track racer styled cruiser
Basically I put it on a diet removed fenders and rear rack and used the atb bars and adjusted the stem to give it a lower stance.

I also discovered the rear wheel needs to be trued
typical wal mart junk but I have a solution to that.
gonna run a set of 26 inch mag wheels providing I can find the right pair I will need that is.
I am also considering running a suspension fork on the front.
after googling 26 inch mag wheels I found a bike I really might clone this into.
not sure of the company that makes them but the frame geometry is very close to this one I just wanna run either fixed gear single or coaster brake no caliper brakes.

more pics of the current stage.
I do not feel to confident in this type of stem as my genesis onex stem failed but this one has a middle bolt to secure it so I am ok with it.
it goes quite low this is the lowest stance I can get though and still be safe to ride.

the frame looks like it would take a 3 inch tire ifi decided to go that route. the current tires are 26x 2 I think stil plenty of room there.
slicks maybe? undecided there yet but we shall see what I come up with.

surprisingly this frame has some resemblance to the classic looptails just not as cool as they were.
the frame is actually pretty cool for a wal mart cheap Chinese pos Schwinn. just unsiure how tough it will be.
more updates soon.

Seat stay clearance looks huge, is it an optical illusion, or are the chain stays alot tighter?

well tis bike has taken a trip way back o the backburner due to my other projects
but today I added a sticker on the rear rack that says support your local biek shop.
I also repurposed a dog chew toy to a rack decoration that resembles a acoon getting run over( hate those damn raccoons I swear their lil demons lol )

the sticker ker
not much but that's about it not sure where I a going with this one it is either rat nor classic o it not getting much attention atm
more updates soon

If you really want to go shine-runner, just make it look like when you bought it, but with internal gears with a hidden shifter and high speed gearing. (stock sprockets for over drive hub, or tiny rear sprog for under/type.) And some panniers with hidden compartments for the rack, of course.

that's not such a bad idea with the panniers. I like it. as far as the gearing I think m just going to keep it single speed this bikes pretty well geared for anything I throw at it it is the rest of the bike that worries me.

well I have made some changes to this bike once again I now have a sheepskin looking seat cover and knobby tires on it but they are too skinny I will be upgrading the wheels and tires to 26x3 if they will fit something wide and mean and turn this into a true off-roading cruiser not quite klunker not quite cruiser a kluiser lol I have to take some pics but my phone quit so I am on it lol
more updates soon
