i agree totaly, it should be free to have a bike building contest, once you go charging money it gets un fun and 10 times more competitive

Competative=Alot nicer bikes like idea wise and detail wise..

yea
like the SSWC...but the winner designs the trophy!

who pays the shipping in the prize?
Who pays the time to make the prize?

i like the idea of a low-cost entry fee ($1-$5 USD).

PLUS...if I want to offer a prize I'd rather not (but I will) pay to ship it (Tax Write-off!)...just my $.02

It wasn't free...I gave away three RRB shirts for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. $18 x 3 = $54.

A plaque is going to run anywhere from $20-$40 plus shipping and the time invovled so you're probably looking at $150 if you go the plaque route. If each entry chipped in $3 - $5 it would cover the cost of the prize and shipping. If yall can't come up with $3-$5 then you need to get off the Internet and go start delivering pizzas/newspapers.

This is just an idea though....we could do without any prizes and just say...hey, your the winner, ha ha!

Another thought would be to take an entry fee and then buy three cool prizes like three different Electra seats or maybe something else easy to ship.

I definitely think we should keep it simple and stick with only three prizes.

Rat Rod I think the popularity of the build off may hurt it in the sense that things might get complicated. In my own humble opinion, it should remain simple and free. Email a certificate to the winners so they can print it themselves and let us make our own trophy if we really want one. Bragging rights alone are worth a whole lot more than some piece of brass and wood. My worst fear is for this contest getting bogged down in rules and then you have people nagging about little stuff that become big stuff and on and on and on... until it's not fun anymore. I say that people who truly want to participate for the fun of it don't care about a trophy. Bottom line, I preach that we Keep It Fun! That's my .02 cents (Canadian, so it really is .16 cent)

What if we charge a $2.00 entry fee per person and that money goes towards shipping of the prizes. Giggles and I will make up some plaques or something for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places. We'll also do up some certificates that all builders will be able to print off to prove that they were in the competion.
I think YYZMEC and some of the other Ontario guys, as well as the FBM-GL guys will vouch for us on the award certificates and the plaques/prizes. :D

Okay im just gonna wait and see what kind of build it is, If its a kids build I aint doing it.

Fine, There is Nothing wrong with a little bit of chrome. Speaking slang, sorry.

I think frame modification should be allowed but you have to use a stock frame....in other words change the rake stretch it layback the seatpost
we see so many cool bikes done this way turning a girls bike into a boys ect

rat rod cars are modified stock cars
sectioned, chopped tops ect.
and these are rat rod bikes so lets be able to modify them if we choose
