No Lowrider....Want suggestions!

Idk i'd stick with black & white match the 50's theme.

Absolutely, there's no way I could bring myself to paint over the original! The cool thing about this build is I didn't do anything that would ruin the bike, no cutting or monkeying with the base. I'm keeping th original forks and the red stripe hub in a safe place.

Im the same way anything with original paint is staying that way unless it's being restored or is crap.

I'm a hot rodder at heart, but they're only original once! If this one was a survivor I wouldn't have changed anything. Plus I really dig patina, it really can't be duplicated. I've tried!

Yeah, that bike is just right. 8) Original paint is the way to go!

Ok I'm diggin' it but I'm wondering how it would look with all black and fatter tires. Hmmm .... But as is I'd ride it all day! Peace

Realy like the original paint! I wouldn't mind having those whitewalls and the original apes on my ride. Looks great!

Here it is, I sanded the headlight down, painted it with 4 coats of spray paint, one alternating between black and white, roughed it up with some 600 grit, then masked off some scallops. I also added a generator and raised the seat for rideability. All that's left to do is run some wiring. :lol:

looks awesome,you could go 2 ways with this,the ratrod style which would have been apes,a bigger spring seat and a red pin stripe on all of the parts that are black to white so the red breaks it up (rub the red striping to match the patina of the original colors)or the racer look,which you did by flipping the riser bars,my suggestion would be to keep the springer forks patina them by sanding down and doing patchy patina with spray patina or like some people sand parts of it to metal and and spray water on and let the sun/water combo do its thing(would go with spray patina tho)the stem looks out of odds and I would have used a negative rise stem from an old ten speed,you would probly end up with the horizontal part of the stem perfectly flat lending a low long racing flow to the look and to finish with a 7 or layback seat post to have the seat back and low looking adding to the slick race look,best part i like is what you did to the head light,awesome,I prolly wouldnt have sanded a good chrome light but thats cos I love chrome,black tyres roughed up and dulled is a definate plus for the race look

Thanks endless, I've got an old ten speed with a neck, I'll see how it fits, I was thinking it would hit the spring. I bought a layback seatpost for this build, but it was too big, otherwise it'd be on there. Maybey I can find one. I also have some 20" apes on the way, but I don't know if I'm going to like them, it seems like apes, along with the springer just give it that low rider look. I like the idea of red stripes to break up the black and white, I just don't have the talent to do it myself and there aren't any pinstripers in this area that I know of. Great minds think alike huh? :shock:

Thanks endless, I've got an old ten speed with a neck, I'll see how it fits, I was thinking it would hit the spring. I bought a layback seatpost for this build, but it was too big, otherwise it'd be on there. Maybey I can find one. I also have some 20" apes on the way, but I don't know if I'm going to like them, it seems like apes, along with the springer just give it that low rider look. I like the idea of red stripes to break up the black and white, I just don't have the talent to do it myself and there aren't any pinstripers in this area that I know of. the stem would be just above it and look good,for easy diy pinstriping just mask off maybe 1.5-2mm each side of were the black and white meet,paint it with airfix or similar enamel modalers paint,unmask,let dry and light sand to how you like it,both apes and low bars would look good,remember some bikes are never quite done so do it how you like it,great minds alright

I think I'll give the pinstriping a try, first I'll do it on an old frame. If it works out, I think it'd be a perfect addition to the bike. Thanks for the tip!
