Ok against my better judgement I went back and bought the breeze. They said they have been ridding it and the three speed works. He said the spedo didn't though.....736 miles guess it gave out. Its pretty clean . The paint is good and there is just light rust on it. The thing should clean up good. They said all the brakes work and they stuck a new tube in one wheel. I just got a new can of WD40 and a new bag of OOO steel wool so I guess I will have something to do during this artic blast coming today...that dang Global Warming.

Oh yeah...that was definitely a wise investment.

That color is one of the hot ones that everyone likes.

Watch out for the water transfer decals on that thing....they can wash away sometimes.

I bet one of Steve's detail jobs would add $100 to the sales price.

Good buy. Be careful, you might start lookin at Schwinn's in a new light, when you can make money on them.

I love how Schwinn kept everything looking pretty classic on these and then they go and stick a dorky looking big rectangle reflector on the rear fender.

The smaller circle reflectors looked so much better on these bikes.

Well looking at the serial number of en605844 on the neck, it was made in may of 1977. Not too old.31 years. Yeah Clancy I don't think you will find my taste changing anytime soon.
Got to just be a cable on the spedo. Ill hook it to my drill in a minute and see what happens.

i'd have bought it too just because. i clean the schwinn decals with meguires auto polish, but be very careful on the chaingusrd screen, they get chalky and sometimes will wipe clean off. i remove all speedometers too, but it may be saveable once cleaned and oiled up.

I took it off to see what was wrong. They crimp the ring around the front where you cant get it apart. The speedo was frozen. I stuck a little penetrating oil in it and worked it back and forth with a small phillips. Then I took the phillips and put it in my drill press and let it run a minute...It freed right up . Stuck the little end back on the cable and put it back together and it works like a charm.

not only is it a schwinn but its a womans also
im guessing thisll be a flipper for some cash to buy bike parts/steel (i do want to see a riding picture before it goes though!!! :p :p :p )

i just bought a 67 just like it for $10 to flip, needed the chain/axle pin replaced and the rear brake cable was froze up from being outside. but other than that it was a decent bike.

Steve told me it was a good deal ha ha. I doubt that I will be riding it,but its cleaning up like new so far. Another day or so and none of my fingers will work....but the wheels will look good .

I always enjoy bringing those Schwinns back to life. Their paint and chrome quality was top notch and usually does look like new again.

Can't imagine many modern day bikes holding up that well after 32 years.

Well working my fingers to the bone. Still have to do the back spokes,a little more on the sprocket and the chain and I'm done, but its looking better.

Man that came out great!
I picked up a 24" Breeze at a garage sale late last year. It's a coaster brake version, same color as yours built in Dec. '65. It was last 'registered' in '75 and I got it from the lady that bought it new.
Have no plans for it yet, but I doubt it'll clean up as nice as yours! The fenders are kinda banged up and someone painted the chainguard(?!). I just grabbed it 'cause the price was right and it was all original. I might get inspired and clean it up though.

For some reason the painted fenders are a little rare. I think most had chrome fenders. You ought to work on it and see if it will clean up. I have had fun with mine , since its freezing and there was nothing else to do.

in the early 60s models painted fenders were standard and chrome fenders were considered "deluxe" items. later on they smacked chrome fenders on most of the bikes instead of painted fenders.

i know ive got a bone stock 66 typhoon (bottom line middleweight) with chrome instead of painted s-7s, and had an original 65 with painted s-7s, both still had painted fenders though, a typhoon "deluxe" would have came with chrome fenders though. i think by 67 they started using chrome fenders too on most (if not all) of their middleweight bikes.
