Well what can I say... this was such a fun build! I loved how this old bike turned out. It was a lot of fun to try new ways to restore and build something like this from an old rusty beginning. (Build process in the Forum) From Oxcillic Acid baths for rust removal to welding a wrench to my rear drum brake to bending my front fork a bit to make it straight again. Old News is my take on an old paperboy bike. It's a 1954 Columbia Five Star Superb from Detroit, MI. It's a mixture of old vintage and new parts with original paint. Hopefully you'll find this build as fun as I do. Enjoy!

Wow! Somehow this one snuck by me during the build off! Really like your theme and the twist on a paperboy bike. The Hanks with the red stripe tie in so well with your script on the tank insert. Your detail photo collage really shows off all the custom touches.

I'm curious, how / why is the wrench welded on to the rear drum brake? What purpose does it serve?

Great build ~!

Thanks man. I really tried to tie in the colors in the build. Thanks fo noticing. The wrench on the drum brake. It actually acts as the arm that my cable connects to so I can stop the wheel when I activate the break. The old one broke on my SARAM hub during a test ride. My buddy welded it on for me. I kinda like it better.

Great build! Love that you were able to save the color!
Killer theme and take on a newsboy! Well done!

Excellent and surprising result, I love those racks and the detailling!

Now if only I could remember what those paper things were for ?

Love it! Lots of great bikes in this build off, but this one just speaks to me in a way I can't describe.
