My buddy Joe who helps make this forum work (programmer) scored this 61 Corvette at a garage sale from the original owner a few months back.

It's complete and 100% original right down to the Schwinn tires that are not even cracking one bit. The serial number is L140180.

Would like to hear what some of you middleweight gurus think it's worth....I was guessing and told him $800 plus with good detailed photos.

I told him I didn't think he should even attempt to clean it up...if you can believe that.

No dents in the fenders...tear drop reflector still chromed and mint....sunburst headbadge...

If some one will pay that, it's worth it. Looks like a 5-yr old bike, and we ain't talking Huffys here. I probably would have said 500.

Sorry Huffy designer.

the 5 speeds are worth a bunch of money (IMO), i want to say the corvettes came with a headlight around that time but im not 100% sure on that. Ive seen middleweights do funny things $-wise though, just depends on who's looking i suppose but my guess would be more around the $500 ballpark too

P.S. is the little tab still intact on the back of the headbadge ?

11-17-61 on the build date which makes it a 62 model. The crash rail seat confirms that, should have had a chrome headight. But that is all it seems to be missing! Could possibly fetch $800.00 under the right circumstances, $500.00 should really be no problem for that nice lil time capsule. Later & PEACE!!!!!

sweet bike! did he ever do anything with the frame I sent him?

I think he did partially build it up with a set of Nexus wheels.

He's always so busy with work and family, he hardly has enough time for any hobbies.

So it sounds like $500 easy if you just threw it out there, but with some seriously sweet large photos and the right timing he could see more out of it.

I figure the red should throw another $150 on to the value.

I wouldn't pay the 500 I quoted, but you could probably get it for a red 3-spd model. 1-spds in black or copper are not worth as much.

there's a few 3 speeds red 1956 (buy it now price of $425)

blue 1956 (buy it now price of $340)

the red seems to be of compareable condition and both have not sold. :)

Well, maybe $500 is a more accurate price then.

I know if I could get a hold of it and detail it out and shoot photos I could squeeze a bit more out of it.

Taking photos of a bike at night isn't the best for Ebay sales.

And if I told you you could get $635 for this bike...

Or $400 out of this bike...

You may have thought I was nutty too.

them's some pristine rides!

you crazy american's are too proud for your own good. lol
if they were made any where else in the world (same quality)
i'd have a hard time selling them to ya for $50. :)

Yeah...the lesson I've learned is, an extra clean bike with a lot of giant clear detailed photos makes a big difference in what you can get on Ebay.
