I have this 1916 Hartford racing bike and i'm trying to decide on what type of handlebar grips to get for it. I'm not too concerned about them being "correct" grips for that year, rather than just matching the bike over all. Both of the grips here are from Rivendell bicycle works. The Portuguese Cork ones are really nice and fit the year better i think but have to be glued on ($20). The other grips are real wood with a clamp on system ($40). Whatchya think??? Or do you know of anyother grips that might look good?

Here is a pic of the type of Cerchio Ghisallo WOOD rims i'll be putting on the bike (i'm going to use clincher, solid white tires though).

Thats a pretty sweat bike! 2 speed, nice. I'm putting 2 speed like that on my 1950's styled custom.
Ya... i'm leaning towards the cork too...
I just found these on Ebay for ($55).

Here is a pic of the Cerchio Ghisallo rims that i plan on putting on the bike ($185 each rim). I'm going to use clincher, solid white 700c tires though.

1916 - 1933

Found out my Hartford is from somewhere between 1916 - 1933. I'm not sure on the specific year yet. I found this info on vintagecolumbiabikes.com

Here are some close up picsof the seat post too (aka known as a " 7 " seat post).
I'm thinking i might have to modify the drop stand to work on my bike... i'm not sure yet.

Those ghisallo clinchers are so perfect for this bike, its going to look amazing. I think there's a guy on ebay that sells the extra long spoke nipples if you don't already have them.

Wood wheel pics...

I just got the wheels back from Center Cycle in Renton WA. New Departure model D skip tooth rear hub, alloy, bolt on hub in the front.
