Our transfer stations, by law, can't sell or give away anything once it's been dumped. So, when we go...I often see lots of decent bikes with good parts destined to be crushed.

I've tried to make inroads with the recycling outfits in the area, but neither one finds it worth their time to separate the bikes out.

Good scores!

Listed the predator as is for $150 and sold this morning for $125 without touching it. Didn't even clean it. $105 profit so far and still have the Haro! Might just decide to keep it since it's basically a free bike at this point.

No one asked and shipping is a hassle and I don't have much free time outside of work.

Well I went back to my new contact today and two more followed me home. First one is a Genesis super 32 which needs oiled badly but is complete with good tires and tubes. I'll probably break it down to the bare frame for paint and grease everything. The other is a cool quad bar frame and has a nice messenger seat, front rack, fenders and all. Paid $25 for the big 32 and $20 on the other.

As John Malkovich said in the movie "Rounders" It's a joke anyway I'm paying you with your money. Lol

I have heard the big 32 inch bikes ride really smooth and I've kinda always wanted to try one out so now I'll get my chance.

The blue bike is a Murray.

That big 32 is worth more than that. People are hungry for those wheels and tires, pretty hard to find that size for some reason
I looked around on eBay and can't find tubes anywhere. Found the tires for $50-$80 each but zero tubes. Good thing these are in decent shape. That's the first thing I checked because now days if you need tires and tubes you're already upsidedown in it unless it's a really really good name brand bike.

Never heard of it but got this Dynacraft gauntlet in on trade for the blue 4 bar cruiser I picked up at the junkyard. Looked cool so I figured I'll do something with it. Also got a sweet 20x3 wheel and tire set which I think I have a plan for.

I've had this one sitting for a while and I recently discovered it is a 24 inch not a 26 as I originally thought. Might put those 20x3's on and see how it looks and feels.

Dynacraft is a seller of cheap chinese toys and bsos. Not as common as Pacific bikes but equal on lack of quality. The sub $99 Gaunlet is a pre-teens fake mtb. Springer fork and frame spring but no dampening in either. Some are "Shimano Equiped" with just 1 Shimano compenent, a very low end rear derailleur. TD (Torque Drive) parts are rather bad. Stamped from sheet metal. Sheet metal brake arms. Press steel hubs. I'd repack all the bearings as they rarely okay from the factory. Cast iron crank arms (kinda short for adults)

I run a local bike coop and we get 100+ of similar bsos every year. Most get dismantled for scrap steel/aluminum and spare parts. I know other coops just send them directly to recycling intact.

But good for cutting and rewelding into other projects as it has no value.
