I saw Cman bought a bike that had the lines drawn around the edges of the rims and it was done with a regular marker. My wife came home from walleyworld with some paint markers tonight that would be good for that . the cost a couple bucks and come in differant colors . Called Elmers Painters. they are four differant widths and you could build a holder and run a line around the rims in a trueing stand. Ill have to try it and see how they work.

Following the 5 foot rule-the sharpies look pretty good. Yours should work better. Just don't spin too fast as the markers may not keep up.

i cant wait to see how this works out! ive got quite a few of those paint pens. CMAN whats the 5foot rule?

I used a silver paint pen on my Schwinn. My hand isn't as steady as I would like.

Years ago I bought a Flo-Pen at an art store for $60. They told me I could pin stripe wheels with it. You fill it with whatever color of one shot you want. Unfortunately I've never used it and it is still sitting in the box.

For your house when scraping and prepping for paint, it is the 10 foot rule.

when finishing up painting the house, My dad always said about blemishes: "Never see it from a helicopter."

good enough for me.

I pinstriped these rusty wheels with a white paint marker. came out ok for a rat. wouldn't do it on a restore.

...One of the hot rod mags had an editorial about that.. Had a quote that went something like "Ever contemplated block-sanding a house?" ~Adam

i have tried doing tires with a striping mack brush and it works ok as long as the wheel is true. if you want to get really trick make a jig to hold the pen

It seems easy enough especially if you have a trueing stand to clamp a piece of metal on it and figure out a way to clamp one of the paint pens to that and roll roll roll.

now you got it other than the issue of the wheel being somewhat true

...make a guide that rolls on the side of the rim and holds the paint pen...

yes that works or.....

this is kind of cheating, but i saw this from my striping guys.
they cant use it for freehand of course, but to paint a straight long line(like along the side of a car) there is a special masking tape made just for this.
i've got a couple rolls of single and double stripe tape fort his. i'm just waitin' to use 'em for something. maybe rims. maybe fenders.

We had a striping wheel years ago that had a clip on thingy that kept the tip a given distance from an edge. the wheel wouldn't have to be so true if you made one of those.

I tried the trueing stand method with a paint marker and just made a mess. I did this one with masking tape and 1/16" fine line tape. Then I rattle canned the stripe on. It's a bit better than 5mph. Not perfect so maybe 3mph. 8) Gary
